CISDI has built a movable, intensified downcoiler unit for a 1,580mm hot rolling line at Xinyu Steel in China’s Jiangxi Province.

The coiler is a first for CISDI, who carried out the entire process, from the design of its plant, mechanical-electric-hydraulic and automation to its manufacture, supply, construction and installation.

The project was closely coordinated, with multiple measures taken to accelerate design schedules. This ensured that all designed equipment was delivered and installed in coordination.

The downcoiler’s installation and commissioning had to be carried out when the rolling line was halted for four hours once a week for regular maintenance.

Commissioning work could only be done for several minutes twice a day, because some working areas had a peak radiant temperature of 80 deg.C.

But CISDI and the construction company pushed on and the first coil was successfully produced after less than two hours of cold commissioning.
