Baowu KISCO’s BOF 2 has been hot commissioned in China’s Yunnan Province.

CISDI, the EPC-based service provider, utilised its SACS expertise to develop a unique 4-point linkage lower suspension system to connect the BOF’s vessel and its trunnion ring.

Comprised of four vertical link suspension mechanisms and four brackets, the system is a world first. The four mechanisms fit under the trunnion ring at the optimal angle and in symmetry with the trunnion line.

Its application shows impressive advantages:

        Super operational safety

        Reliability and stability

Extended service life of the furnace shell

No maintenance of the suspension mechanisms and brackets is required

        Easy and cost-effective pipeline maintenance.

The 120 tonnage BOF, a major unit for a new meltshop at Kunming City-based KISCO, has a projected annual qualified slab production capacity of 2.272 million tonnes.

The BOF’s hot commissioning went smoothly through testing of its shell and trunnion ring, weighing in at around 500 tonnes. Correct direction tests for motor rotation of no-load furnace’s tilting system and shell rotations of positive and negative 90, 180 and 360 degrees were recorded.

All tests resulted in a smoothly running motor during rotation and stable, noise-free furnace tilting.
